A massive explosion was reported at the key Shahid Rajaee port of south Iran's Bandar Abbas city in Hormozgan province. The explosion reported by the Iranian state media injured over 115 people after several containers stored at the port exploded, causing fire. The authorities reportedly rushed four rapid-response teams were rushed to the spot. According to the state media, Shahid Rajaee is Iran's largest and most advanced commercial port. It is located over 1,000 kilometres to the south of the capital, Tehran, and the north of the Strait of Hormuz, from which a fifth of the world's oil output passes.
