We’re back at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, and this time we’re taking on Corkscrew – a black-graded downhill trail that blends speed, rhythm, and natural tech in a way that’s pure fun for experienced riders.
Built with flow in mind, Corkscrew kicks off fast with rooty sections, compressions, and a series of twisting turns. Expect a mix of wooden steps, slab drops, and off-camber roots – nothing too extreme, but enough to keep you sharp. It’s not the gnarliest black at FoD, but it’s a solid favourite for those who like fast and natural with a bit of edge.
Recently refurbished by Dean Trail Volunteers, it rides well in most conditions, though the roots get slick when wet – pick your lines wisely.
