#Izamal is a small town in #Yucatan, #Mexico. It is about an hour from #Merida and 3 hours from #Cancun. It is an excellent town to see in a day trip. In #Izamal you will see the convent of San Antonio de Padua, a 15th century Franciscan Monastery. You will also see some ancient Mexican Pyramids from 750 B.C. But the most interesting is the yellow painted houses/buildlings. Every structure in the center of the town of #Izamal is painted yellow, hence the term Yellow City. Why Yellow? I was told that when Pope Paul II visited #Izamal in 1990s, the town was painted all yellow and white, in unity with the Vatican colors of yellow and white. Watch the video and enjoy Izamal.
