The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Andhra Pradesh liquor scam has arrested D. Vasudeva Reddy, the former Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Ltd (APSBCL). He is listed as Accused No. 2 in the multi-crore scam case and has been remanded to judicial custody by a court until February 27, 2026. According to SIT officials, Vasudeva Reddy played a key role by allegedly manipulating liquor sales, shifting official online systems to manual processes, influencing brand placements, and facilitating irregular kickbacks — actions that contributed to large financial losses to the state exchequer.
The alleged scam, estimated at around ₹3,500 crore, involves manipulation of liquor distribution and procurement processes during the previous government’s tenure. The SIT continues to investigate the larger conspiracy and financial irregularities linked with the liquor policy.
