The first flight by Air Peace landed at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport in Umueri. The project was launched in 2017 and its meant to become the busiest airport in West Africa serving Anambra and another state. Onitsha is one of the biggest economic and commercial activities hubs in Africa, and the airport will serve as a direct bridge between Anambra, Nigeria and the world.
The CEO of Air Peace, Chief Onyema said he was delighted to have his planes as the first to land at the Anambra airport which has the longest runway in Nigeria as a country.
Governor Willie Obiano said that the dream for an airport started almost 30 years ago when the government of Anambra State acquired 530 hectares of land in Oba, Idemili South LGA with the intention of building an airport but that never materialized. That dream is fulfilled today.
Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport will soon commence full operation in 2021.
