A gas leak incident created panic in Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Monday afternoon. A large volume of gas leaked from an ONGC drill site located in the Irusumanda area of Malikipuram mandal, triggering fear among residents of nearby villages. The gas continued to escape for nearly two hours before authorities were alerted. Local residents immediately informed officials after noticing the leak. Responding to the incident, local Tahsildar Srinivasa Rao reached the site and assessed the situation. ONGC senior officials were informed, following which technical experts from the company arrived at the location and initiated measures to control the leak. Officials stated that efforts were taken to bring the situation under control and ensure public safety.
