Me voicing Goofy!
Merry Christmas to all of you!
I've gotten at least two requests every year from people who tells me to do this scene. The problem with it is that the audio is mixed in such an horrific way that it's impossible to remove the voices since the voices are not only mixed into the center channel but also the left and right.
I decided to keep Alan Young as Scrooge McDuck for two reasons, number 1 is Alan Young IS the definitive voice for Scrooge and he puts a smile on my face everytime I get to hear him. The second is that I can't do a scottish accent anyway lol (I can't roll my Rs WAAAH).
I hate how my Goofy turned out here, I wouldn't even upload it but some people forced me. I just wasn't into acting today (notice how my acting sucks). What else threw me off a bit were Hal Smith's inflections as Goofy (he voiced him in this movie). He keeps Goofy much lower than Bill Farmer (whom I'm used to) in such a way that some bits feels extremely awkward to recite for me. I'm completely molded after Bill Farmer's higher speech pattern. Does this sound unbelievably stupid and technical? Yes, because that's exactly it. I'm retardedly technical sometimes. Another thing Hal Smith did that rubbed off onto my performance here is that he keeps Goofy quite Barney The Dinosaur-esque. This was the only time that I know of he ever voiced Goofy and I'm not complaining since I don't think it was particulary good at all. Don't get me wrong, the man was very talented and I like some of his other work but just not Goofy.
Mixing was a pain as well, alot of those darn chains, and because I couldn't use the original music (not available nor could I remove the vocals) I just had to completely replace it. The mixing is also slightly rushed since I wanted to have it up before 6am (to test if youtube follows a clock lol). It's exactly 5:50am as I'm writing this so I BARELY made it lol. I used music from the 2009 version of A Christmas Carol (starring Jim Carrey). I haven't seen the movie (looks mostly like a reason for Jim Carrey to do exaggerated motion capture faces and to show off 3D) but the music by Alan Silvestri is quite beautiful (he's amazing). I used 4 or 5 different tracks for the entire scene I think. I especially like how the stair scene turned out.
Side note: The correct line used in the movie is "I robbed the widows and swindled the poor". Not "I robbed FROM the widows" as all quotes says it is. It sounds a bit weird to me but oh well.
