and providing these unique passports, of which only about 6,000 were issued.

Today, only a small fraction of that number is believed to survive.

Thanks to a reader of my website, I was able to acquire one of these rare pieces.

By my best knowledge, just two private collectors and two Canadian museums currently hold examples of this remarkable artifact.
