In 1944, Nazi Germany launched the V-1 flying bomb campaign against London and southern England. These early cruise missiles, nicknamed “buzz bombs,” had no guidance system and often fell directly into civilian neighborhoods. Thousands of homes were destroyed, entire streets vanished, and around 6,000 civilians were killed in Britain.
This video explains how the V-1 terror weapons worked, why civilians suffered the most, and how the campaign became one of the deadliest attacks on Britain’s home front during World War II.
