Highlighting the landmark facility as a big boost to the country’s tourism industry, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the Mactan Expo located within The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

The Php1.5 billion Mactan Expo was developed by Megaworld Corporation. It will support the Philippines’ meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector, starting with the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in May. It sets a benchmark for world-class events and is expected to boost tourism in the Central Visayas Region (Region VII) while championing the unique Cebuano identity.

President Marcos Jr. congratulated Megaworld Corporation for completing the Mactan Expo in a short period, emphasizing that partnerships between the government and the private sector help deliver large projects more efficiently.

“I am very grateful for all your hard work. I am grateful for all your dedication to put the Philippines’ best foot forward for not only our Asian neighbors, but for the rest of the world. In the many years to come, this will be remembered as a landmark facility for not only for Cebu, not only for Lapu-Lapu, but for the entire Philippines,” the President stated in his keynote message.
