Most of the Worst Generation were clearly designed to be taken seriously, Law, Bonney, Blackbeard but Oda quietly turned one of them into a full-on meme, and that character is Kid’s first mate, Killer. Because the deeper you dig into Killer’s lore, the more unhinged it gets. In an SBS, Oda revealed that Killer’s least favorite food is curry udon, and not for some dramatic reason but because he and Kid once laughed at a woman who spilled curry udon on herself and then immediately got absolutely demolished by her. Different kind of trauma. Meanwhile, his favorite food is anything stick-shaped, because he eats through the holes in his mask, which is also why he drinks alcohol using a straw like a menace.

And it somehow keeps getting worse. Oda straight-up said that if Killer wasn’t a pirate, he’d be running a pasta shop. Not a swordsman. Not a warrior. A pasta shop. On top of that, Oda admitted he named him “Killer” out of pure laziness, meaning his name has zero symbolism or deeper meaning, it’s just there. And if that wasn’t enough, when a fan asked what Killer would’ve looked like if his SMILE fruit actually worked, Oda said he’d be an elephant with Killer’s head sticking out of the trunk and random body parts popping out everywhere. At some point, you just have to accept that Oda was never taking this man seriously and honestly, that makes Killer even funnier.
