Norfolk & Western 611: The Fast Flying Virginian

Описание: Norfolk & Western 611 triumphantly returns to the mainline, taking charge of several fall foliage excursions over the Buckingham Branch Railroad's "Virginia Scenic Railway." For those riding and trackside, this was an experience like no other, and hopefully, this won't be the last time we see the Queen of Steam in the Shenandoah Valley. Enjoy!

Norfolk & Western 611 is a 4-8-4 J-Class Locomotive and a product of the N&W Roanoke shops. She faithfully served the N&W from her construction in 1950 to her retirement in 1959. 611 is the sole survivor of the famed N&W J-Class, on part of a successful reconstruction after a 1956 wreck. In July of 1982, 611 was fired up for the first time in her excursion life, seeing many more years of service in this second life. After another 12 years of faithful service, 611 was displayed, with an uncertain future in excursion service. In 2013, "Fire-Up 611!" was formed and by 2015, the locomotive would breathe again, operating for the first time in 21 years.
