Описание: It is said You never forget your first time........Well I doubt Matt will forget this for a while at least.A calm,July day,and a trip around The Stacks of Holy Island,Anglesey just has to be good.It cannot be anything else.If you're into Sea Kayaking, and you haven't done this trip,You are seriously missing out.By anybody's standards,it is a classic. You have caves, coves, arches,Islands,Stacks, gullies, tide races,a superb lighthouse, amazing geology,Sea birds,Seals and suberb views to the Lleyn Peninsula,Bardsey Island, the Skerries, and if you're really lucky, the Isle of Man,and Ireland. We left Porth Dafarch, needing to be beyond South Stack for about 12 noon ideally. But we got side tracked, meeting up with my mates Andy, and son Drew, who had been threatening to come out with us for some while. We did a bit of a tour of Porth Dafarch to Penrhyn Mawr, then continued alone to North Stack.Strangely,I often don't get around the Stacks in summer,I am usually elsewhere,or it is windy. This is not a place to be caught out in when the wind gets up - unless of course you are Uber Kayaker....We got the tides all wrong, but still managed it,in fact the Back Eddy across Abrahams Bosom was immense - 3-4 mph, without paddling.I went again the day after WITH the tide, and the Back Eddy worked against us,paddling hard, and managing about 1.5 mph.....The hard bit is through South Stack bridge,it is usually do-able,but at the strongest cycle of a Spring Tide,I wouldn't be 100%.The other danger to mention is the SeaCat ferry. We arrived at North Stack just as it came in.As it went around North Stack inbound to Holyhead,it took 5mins for the wave to hit Parliament House Cave - just as Matt had landed, and I pulled My spraydeck, ready to land.3 or 4 big waves came in,and could have turned out very nasty indeed.Great care is needed, and a check of the timetable, would be a very good idea, for next time.Outward bound ferries have little or no effect here. The trip,on the whole was a bit of a rush, due to timing the tides wrong, and for Matt, another trip would be just as good,as he has missed a hell of a lot. There is a huge amount to see on this trip.On returning, and passing Penrhyn Mawr, the sea was like a big bath of Baby Oil,and the final return to Porth Dafarch was sublime. The music is again my own work,a little progression,on acoustic guitar, slide, and Our Craig's Vintage bass, recorded in our back room on the Boss Br600 - as always enjoy.
