United Nations, New York, 17 January 2010: Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Haiti today to visit mission headquarters (MINUSTAH) devastated by Tuesdays earthquake and to express solidarity with distraught UN staff and the Haitian people in what has already been described as the worst ever disaster to strike the United Nations.
Upon his arrival, he met with Haitis president Rene Preval and had an emotional meeting with his former UN spokesperson Michele Montas.
Ban plans to take an aerial tour of the country's most-damaged areas.
