Burnaaga (Goanna) - Mogo - First Mountain Bike Ride Before it Opened - May 2025

Описание: Riding the unmissable Burnagga (Goanna) mountain bike track from Mt Wandera to Mogo township in Southern NSW. We were lucky enough to grab a shuttle to the top of Mt Wandera the day before it opened to the public on 9th May 2025. Once open, there will be two shuttles, one longer one to the summit of Mt Wandera (more expensive, no final fire trail climb), and a shorter 40 minute shuttle which has a grueling 1.4 km fire trail boasting a nasty 180 m climb at around 13% gradient to the summit. Our only option was the fire trail! The first 7 km descent starts with a majestic panoramic view back to the coast, followed by well formed but tight single track descent as you hug the mountain. Following the descent is a 134 m climb followed by some mildly technical descents down well formed sandstone paths and granite outcrops. There's also a super fast section of sandy flow with medium sized 'pops' you can really launch off with enough speed. The first creek crossing is only 1m wide but was super greasy - WALK THIS ONE - then it's more single track until you cross the creek about 3/4 of the way to Mogo. From about 25 km you'll be on reasonably flat featureless flow until you hit the bitumen a few km out of Mogo. We took 3 hrs 20 min with a few stops for snacks and obligatory photos. The trail is rated blue, but that's a pretty deep blue! Take your time and have fun. This trail is a must do if you have a few days in Mogo.
