The audience will hear the personal testimonies of affected mining families, community leaders, mining company executives and hitmen hired by the mafias to murder uncooperative miners. The special will also reveal the connection between the ruthless Mexican cartel called Caballeros Templarios and Chinese nationals who collaborate to smuggle significant quantities of stolen iron ore from Mexico into China.

Additionally, “Nuevos Narcotesoros” tours the Peruvian Amazon region, where deforestation and the indiscriminate mining of gold and mercury are causing irreparable damage to the ecosystem.
