While visiting Taree and Wingham N.S.W I took a walk in the Wingham Brush Reserve close to Wingham township. This is a rainforest restoration area that show what can be done when volunteers help to maintain the unique yet small piece of rainforest by weeding and being guardians of the forest.
It is recognised world wide for the success of the restoration project which is now under the control of NSW National Parks and Wildlife.
This is a very small glimpse of what land along the Manning Valley looked like before colonialism. The small numbers of bird life, plants and trees are a testament to the hard work of the restoration project.
There are a large colony of unique and endangered Flying Foxes in the forest. You may not see them easily in this video but you will hear them screeching as they warn others in the colony of our presence.
