She grew up in front of a camera - remember, hers is the only generation that never knew life before iPhones and webcams, so she's not shy about sharing her image. A trained dancer, the Alberta teen serves clipped moves to her 3.5 million TikTok followers with the same ease that she executes longform choreography in her music videos. Check out “working” with R&B star Khalid and “feel like shit.” Her dusky mid-register vocals outline the picture. Her physicality colors it in. Tate’s bonafides, which also include the wildly successful YouTube channel she started at age 13, made her a shoe-in for our DSCVR series back in 2020. Subsequent performances of “All My Friends Are Fake” and “Happy Face” convinced us we’d be working with her again in the future. In the backdrop of the pandemic, her star has risen as her determined pop sound has struck a chord with fans. Awesome that she could make time between high school classes (!!!) for a return to Vevo’s studios.
