Xeloda (capecitabine) is a powerful medicine for certain patients with breast cancer or GI cancers. But a side effect called palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia or hand-foot syndrome can be debilitating for some patients.
Voltaren (diclofenac gel) has been a great option for many of my patients! A study called the D-TORCH trial showed it reduces the chance of hand-foot syndrome by 3 fold.
Although the publication has been out for a year, many of my patients didn't know about this option until I discussed it with them, so I wanted to get the word out.
