Sarah Neufeld is an internationally renowned Canadian violinist and composer based in New York City. Best known as a long time member of Arcade Fire, she is also a founding member of the contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre.
Leave it to internationally renowned, Juno Award winning, violinist, composer, long-time member of Arcade Fire and founding member of Bell Orchestre, Sarah Neufeld to helm her moving and emotional third solo album as, Detritus. It challenges the listener to push past the initial implication. Dig deeper. It’s in the organics of it all. The messiness of its inception and its influences. As the flowers bloom in the spring of 2021, and after a year of global sadness, here is the album that offers resistance, and inspiration to unite music and movement in an ongoing collaboration of purposeful healing.

Neufeld’s influences range from Bartok, to Arthur Russell, to Aphex Twin. Detritus will be Neufeld’s third solo album following acclaimed debut album Hero Brother which was produced by Nils Frahm. In 2015 Neufeld released Juno award winning Never Were The Way She Was with celebrated saxophonist and collaborator Colin Stetson, and in 2016 Neufeld released her second solo album, The Ridge.

La violoniste et compositrice canadienne Sarah Neufeld a une renommée internationale. Mieux connue pour son lien de longue date avec Arcade Fire, elle est également membre fondatrice de l’ensemble instrumental contemporain Bell Orchestre.

Neufeld vient de diriger son émouvant troisième album solo, Detritus, qui met l’auditeur au défi d’aller au-delà de la simple audition. Il faut creuser plus profondément, dans le caractère organique de tout cela, le désordre de ses débuts et de ses influences. Pendant que les fleurs s’épanouissent au printemps, et après une année de tristesse mondiale, cet album procure en 2021 une résistance et une inspiration pour unir la musique et le mouvement dans une collaboration continue de guérison réfléchie.

Les influences de Neufeld vont de Bartok à Arthur Russell, en passant par Aphex Twin.
