So, this level nearly broke me, but not for the reason that you're thinking. I wasn't getting any checkpoints, and after one too many times where it boots me back to start, I decide to try to find why this is happening.
It turns out that it's because I was taking HP Damage at the very beginning, with the Black Eye Skull. You see me test EASO , as well as selectively turning skulls off and on to see what happens. After figuring out how the checkpoints work, I then get ready for the Gravemind run.
The skulls turned on in Halo 2 LASO (Xbox):
Anger: Enemies and Allies fire faster and more often. It might also stop the Elite's Plasma Rifles from overheating.
Assassins: Enemies are cloaked.
Black Eye: Shields only recharge through Melee Kills. Can gain Overcharge this way.
Blind: No HUD
Catch: AI throws more grenades. Also everybody drops grenades.
Famine: Weapons dropped by enemies only have half ammo
Ghost: Enemies do not flinch.
Grunt Birthday Party: Enemies explode (minimal damage) on a headshot kill
IWHBYD: Silly voice lines
Iron: Only works on Co-op (I think). Unsure if it messes with single-player checkpoints.
Mythic: Enemies gain boosted HP and shield. Allies gain boosted HP.
Sputnik: Objects, allies, enemies, and you all go flying from explosive and melee. Also lets your melee attacks turn enemies around.
That's Just...Wrong (Blam): Enemies have boosted hearing. Labelled under "Blam" in Xored Trainer Launcher
Thunderstorm: Most Enemy and Ally units are the most elite variants.
No Envy skull, as that gives Master Chief cloaking, and makes it easier.
