The stunning new release from Okmo and Retrol, The B01 Monitor Ball Hopper Hit and Miss engine is a scale working replica of a 4hp Baker Monitor stationary engine from the early 1900s (In the video I said it was modelled on a 1919 7hp engine, however this is incorrect). The attention to detail on this little beauty is amazing, and she runs perfectly straight out the box.
It's running on 95 octane unleaded petrol mixed 40:1 with two stroke oil, a light oil for the oiler system, and clean tap water for the coolant. I also used a spray grease on the big end bearing and the hit and miss governor mechanism. Unlike some of my other engines it runs very clean with little smoke.
I made this video the day after I received it, it's the second full run it has had. I haven't made any adjustments yet, but as you'll see it runs great without any tweaks or adjustments required. I plan to adjust the timing to top dead centre and slightly loosen the governor weight spring once the engine is run in.
This is from the first batch of engines - number 105, the second batch is due to start shipping in September.
