So we have all been practicing playing Pentatonic scales through the keys ( 1,2,3,5,6 from each major scale) Transposing it up in Half-steps, Down in Half-steps, up in Minor 3rds, Down in Tones etc... Now lets put all that work into context.


We have been talking about 'Autumn Leaves' ( in Bb) and we have been doing some Funk studies.. Lets put them together.

You can play;

Bb major Pentatonic over Cmin7

B Major Pentatonic over F7(alt)... This is the Tri-Tone remember!!

C major Pentatonic over Bbmaj7 ( which gives us a lovely #11 sound... E natural)

and to finish with

Db Major Pentatonic over the G7 ( alt) which will nicely pull us back into C minor ( 5, 1 Right!!??)


So in other words.

Rising Pentatonics going up in Half-Steps can fit over a 2 5 1 6. In this case in Bb major ( or over the first 4 chords of 'Autumn Leaves'). Try it! see what it sounds like.

On the video I also played the same Pentatonic keys over C7sus, Db7sus, D7sus and Eb7sus. Obviously rising in Semi-tones. Then I mixed the chords up for fun.
