Where is your trust anchored—God, or the comforts of this world?
Today’s readings challenge us to examine what we rely on, and they warn us lovingly: true blessing comes from trusting the Lord—and that trust must show itself in mercy.
In Jeremiah 17:5–10, we see the difference between a life rooted in human strength and a life rooted in God.
In Psalm 1, the blessed person is like a tree planted near running water—stable, fruitful, and enduring.
And in Luke 16:19–31, Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus calls us to conversion before it’s too late—especially in how we respond to the “Lazarus” at our door.
This is a powerful Lenten wake-up call: trust the Lord deeply—and let that trust become concrete compassion.
Today’s Mass Readings (Bible References):
First Reading: Jeremiah 17:5–10
Psalm: Psalm 1:1–2, 3, 4, 6
Gospel: Luke 16:19–31
Catechism Connections:
• CCC 2447 — Works of mercy: how Christians love Christ in practical ways through the needy.
• CCC 1817 — Christian hope: trusting God’s promises in a way that shapes daily life.
Reflection Question:
Who is the “Lazarus at my gate” right now—and what one act of mercy can I do today?
