In this video, I cover how to square the clubface on the down swing. I go over what works for me and what I feel.
One thing to note is that if you take the club away on a pretty good plan and have good positions at the top, you need to have your body, arms, and hands doing the correct things through impact in order to have a square clubface.
The way I do that is to keep my left elbow pointed at the ball or just inside the ball on the way down. That does a couple things for me. 1) It returns the club back to the ball on a similar plane as my backswing and 2) It allows my body to stay in my posture during the downswing. As a I mentioned in the video, a common fault would be to raise up & out of your posture on the downswing and that happens when your left elbow points outside the ball on the way down (often referred to us "coming up out of the shot").
The other thing I do to get a square club face is to feel like the top of my glove (logo on the top of the glove) faces the ball just before impact. If you try this move, you will really feel and see how it squares your club at impact.
Try these simple moves and you will be getting your clubface square for a longer portion of your swing and through the impact zone.
