Eamon Gilmore is the European Union Special Representative for Human Rights (since March 2019) and has also served as EU Special Envoy for the Columbian Peace Process since October 2015. In his current role as EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Mr Gilmore acts to enhance the European Union’s effectiveness, presence and visibility in protecting and promoting human rights in the world.
In this keynote address, Mr Gilmore will discuss key priorities for the EU in promoting human rights in its foreign policy. The event will be chaired by Professor Jo Fox, Dean of the School of Advanced Study, University of London and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Public Engagement with the University of London.
This keynote lecture was part of the 7th Joint Human Rights Conference on Human Rights and Foreign Policy. This international conference is co-organised by the Human Rights Consortium, University of London, the Human Rights Section of the International Studies Association (ISA), the Human Rights Section of the American Political Science Association (APSA), and the Standing Group on Human Rights and Transitional Justice, European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
