Come with us as we explore Lord Line. A symbol of Hulls Maritime Heritage.
Originally built in 1883 for use in the coal trade. In 1949 the building was repurposed an when the doors opened almost 50,000 people were employed.
After the Triple Trawler Tragedy of 1968, safety concerns quickly turned into a full blown movement. Lead by Lillian Bilocca, with hundreds of women following. They became known as "The Head Scarfs"
Big "lil" as she came to be known had her petition delivered to No 10 with a list of 88 proposals to make the industry safer.
The almost 5000 men who left this dock an never returned, are all named on memorial plaques looking out across the Humber at the Bull Nose. The entrance to the dock.
