So, who wants to get there PrBoom on! PrBoom cross-platform source port for the classic Doom engine, preserving the original gameplay while adding modern enhancements. Unlike other source ports that create new gameplay features, PrBoom and its derivatives focus on accurate, "vanilla-style" Doom gameplay and a high degree of demo compatibility. No wonder why I feel at home with my IMP-killing mayhem. Of course, on Ubuntu, the PrBoom package comes with its own Doom-inspired game, Freedoom, which is its own custom WAD file with its own custom maps, models, and textures. PrBoom makes use of SDL, allowing the engine to run across mutiple platforms. The game can make use of OpenGL as well, even though that is a feature I hadn't been able to use as Ubuntu 7.10 on VirtualBox doesn't support 3D acceleration.
VirtualBox 7.0 is virtualizing a multimedia PC with single core allocated to it. Host is a AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core Processor. The VM has 1GB of RAM allocated to it, VESA Compatible display adapter, along with an Intel ICH AC97 audio device, and a Intel PRO/1000 MT Ethernet Adapter. X.org is running at 1024 by 768. Ubuntu Linux 7.10 is installed.
