Karnataka, Andhra's social media ban plan for under-16s: Legal questions & mental health concerns

Internet Freedom Foundation co-founder Apar Gupta says the proposal raises questions about constitutional jurisdiction, definitions of “social media”, and whether age verification could lead to privacy risks. Meanwhile, psychologist Priyanka M.B. says while social media addiction and cyberbullying are real concerns, a blanket ban may not work with adolescents, and could push them towards secrecy instead.
