The perfect weekend trip for the larch season begins at Rainy Pass off of Washington's Hwy 20 just east of North Cascades National Park. After following the Pacific Crest Trail to beautiful Cutthroat Pass and beyond, my friend Kayla Reynolds and I depart to head up the Snowy Lakes Trail where we would set up our basecamp for the weekend. Two magnificent Bulger List peaks sit next to each other in this area of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest; Tower Mountain (8,444') and Golden Horn (8,366'). Our goal was to climb each of them, and then we would add the beautiful Mount Hardy, a top 200 peak, into the mix on our way out.
