Senior automotive leaders gathered at Autocar Professional’s India EV Conclave in Delhi, urging clearer policies, stronger charging infrastructure, and a technology-agnostic roadmap to accelerate India’s electric mobility shift. Rajeev Chaba of JSW MG Motor India, Rahul Bharti of Maruti Suzuki, Vikram Gulati of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Nitin Sheth of Reliance Industries and Vinkesh Gulati of ASDC) highlighted key challenges holding back EV adoption.
While EV penetration in passenger vehicles has risen to 6–7%, the market is still dominated by two- and three-wheelers. The panel flagged low charging utilisation, policy inconsistency, supply-chain risks, lack of R&D focus, and the urgent need for technician skilling. They called for an urban-first approach to charging infrastructure, deeper industry collaboration, and stable long-term policies to boost confidence among consumers and investors. Despite the hurdles, the leaders expressed optimism, noting that India’s EV foundation is strengthening and the next phase of growth will depend on better execution and strategically planned infrastructure.
The India EV Conclave 2025 was presented by Chargezone, with Rosmerta Technologies as the Platinum Partner. The event is powered by IPG Automotive and Gulf Oil Lubricants India, with PTC serving as the Technology Partner. Associate Partners include Spark Minda, Radici Group, and Delta Electronics. The conclave also has trade partnerships with FADA, ASDC, and iCAT.
