The Karnataka government transferred the case of assault in Karnataka's Belagavi to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
A woman was dragged out of her house, stripped naked, tied to a pole, and thrashed in Belagavi on December 10 by the family of a girl with whom her son had eloped, police said.
The police said that the woman’s son had been in a relationship with the girl for some time. On receiving the news of their daughter eloping with the woman’s son, the girl’s family rushed to the boy’s house.
