Welcome back to my channel. For those who are here for the first time, welcome! In this video, I'm going to show you how to make a fava bean soup with dried fava beans. There are a few ways to make this soup. You can use dried fava beans with the shell, or dried fava beans without the shell. If you want to save some prep time, using the canned fava beans is completely okay as well. Fava beans are also called broad beans. You can easily find them in the grocery stores.

Cooking Tips:
If you are using dried fava beans with the shell, you want to soak them in water overnight. Then here comes the fun part - peeling the shells. The shell is hard and not really edible, so you definitely want to remove the shells. If you are using dried fava beans without the shells, you only need to soak the beans in the water for about an hour before cooking.

Ingredients:
0.5 lb dried fava beans or 2 canned fava beans
8 cups water
1 cup diced tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
0.5 cup chopped onions
0.5 teaspoon dried thymes
0.25 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon tomate paste
Olive oil
Salt and pepper, taste
Scallions or parsley, optional
