Many of you asked me to build a formation with Hansi Flick, but since I already use several possession-style managers, I decided to create a custom 4-2-2-2 possession game formation instead — which you can still use perfectly with Flick.
I’ve tested this setup in 7–8 matches with a very high win rate. It’s smooth in possession, solid in defense, and surprisingly sharp in counterattacks.
⚙️ Formation Setup:
• Defense: LB (Offensive Full-back), 2 CBs (Build Up + Destroyer), RB (Defensive Full-back)
• Midfield: DMF (Anchor Man or Destroyer), CMF (Orchestrator), AMF (Creative Playmaker), RMF (Hole Player)
• Attack: 1 CF (Deep Lying Forward / Prolific Winger – fast & good dribbling), 1 CF (Goal Poacher / Advanced Striker / Fox in the Box)
🧠 The CMF Orchestrator is the key in possession play — recovering the ball, linking up triangles between lines, and keeping control of tempo.
If you use Hansi Flick, you can also link up AMF (Creative Playmaker) with RMF (Hole Player) for even smoother, more accurate combinations.
