Possible Reasons For Battery Drain Problems
Following are some of the possible reasons for battery drainage problems on Xiaomi Redmi devices.
Updates
While using Xiaomi Redmi device, you are bound to receive official OTA updates almost every month from the official MIUI team. These updates may include security patches, new features, performance fixes, application fixes or even Android version upgrades (depends on the developers and beta testers).
Your Xiaomi Redmi device might face certain issues when you update it. It is possible. Because, these issues might have come along with the update. This maybe due to the fact that those issues might have got past the beta tests and only emerge on the end-user side.
The most common issue that arises from such updates is the battery drainage problem. Battery drainage problem may be due to the bugs in the Android system, system application or un-organized background processes.
High Battery Consuming Application(s)
Lets face it. Many of us have at-least one such application on our Xiaomi Redmi devices that consumes large amount of battery. Usually such applications comes under Games category. These applications can be anywhere between 100 MB to 3 GB in size and always require an Internet connection to work. Do you think such applications consumes less battery?
Background Processes
Most of the applications are allowed by default to run in the background (if they require). When you install such applications, you are literally asking them to sit in the background and eat up your precious device battery.
New Generation of Smart Mobiles
New generation smart mobiles has a common fast battery drainage problems these days. For better user experience and services, smart mobiles are being shipped without considering the impact of high RAM usage background process on Android devices.

My Experience With Xiaomi Redmi Device
I bought Xiaomi Redmi 6 around three months ago i.e, on March 2019. It has 3 GB RAM, Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 chipset, Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 32 GB internal memory etc.
Despite outstanding specifications, on May 2019 my mobile started utilizing more battery than usual. I visited the Indian MIUI Community and found out that many people were complaining about the same issue on their devices. After going through several threads, I got to know that it was the latest official OTA update that was causing the issue.
This battery drainage problem was reduced to some extent on my Redmi 6 device after modifying some of the device settings. I hope the developers fix this issue soon and push the update to all Xiaomi Redmi 6 devices.
