The 2025 BYD Fang Chengbao (FCB) Bao 8 is a high-performance plug-in hybrid off-road SUV designed to blend extreme capability with modern luxury. It is built on BYD’s Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) platform, combining a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with dual electric motors to deliver a massive 550 kW (738 hp) and 760 Nm of torque. This powerful AWD setup enables the Bao 8 to sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, while still offering a strong balance between performance and efficiency, making it one of the most powerful electrified off-road SUVs in its class.

Energy storage is handled by a 36.8 kWh LFP Blade Battery, providing an electric-only driving range of around 100 km under WLTC standards, while the total combined range extends to approximately 1,200 km. The vehicle features electric four-wheel drive and a top speed of 180 km/h, supported by BYD’s advanced DiSus-P body control suspension system, which allows up to 200 mm of ride-height adjustment. With dimensions of 5195 mm in length, 1994 mm in width, and 2002 mm in height, along with a 2920 mm wheelbase, the Bao 8 has a commanding road presence and excellent interior space for long expeditions.

Off-road performance is a major highlight, with multiple dedicated terrain modes including snow, sand, mud, mountain, rock, wading, low-speed 4WD, and differential lock functions, ensuring confidence in extreme conditions. Inside, the Bao 8 emphasizes premium comfort and technology, offering 6- or 7-seat configurations, a multi-screen layout with a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment display, and a passenger screen, plus Huawei Qian Kun Zhi Driving ADS smart driving assistance. This combination of rugged hardware, cutting-edge technology, and refined interior design positions the Bao 8 as a luxury off-road SUV that does not compromise on performance or intelligence.
