(2 Feb 2015) Starting midnight Sunday, the United Steelworkers Union called for a strike at nine oil refineries nationwide.
Four of those plants are located in the Houston area and have more than 3,000 workers.
The United Steelworkers say that their primary objective is to improve health and safety, not just about wages and benefits. They are also concerned with the increasing use of contract workers, who they say have less training.
