SEASON 2, EPISODE 7: Discussing the differences between 7th and 8th grade.
For the first time in our reflection videos we mix it up a bit-- this week we don't just focus on one grade level, as we bring in two 7th graders and two 8th graders to talk through their Health class and middle school experience.
CONVERSATION QUESTIONS:
Question 1: What are some major differences between the grade levels? What academic or social issues concern 7th or 8th graders?
Question 2: What will you remember from 7th grade or 8th grade Health class? What lessons had meaning?
TEACHING FOCUS:
Notice the subtle differences between the grade levels, and what, if any, stressors or challenges face the students. The ability to reflect and make deep connections is also something that develops with age.
As the teacher, how do you gain feedback from students? What things do you do to listen and reflect on the teaching process? Are there any specific things students have told you that have caused you to make changes in the classroom?
