Extended interview | New Chapel CEO discusses Jamey Noel, nonprofit’s future

Описание: Matt Owen has worked at New Chapel EMS since 2011. He has been "in the top six" of the organization since 2020 and became CEO in February. In this exclusive interview with WHAS11 FOCUS reporter Travis Breese and photojournalist Jessica Farley, Owen talks about the betrayal he feels toward his former boss, mentor and friend Jamey Noel.

Noel and his family are accused of taking $3.6 million from the organization over a five-year span from 2018-2023 and spending it on vacations, Rolexes, a Cessna airplane, classic cars, two of his daughters' college tuition, paying off timeshares and more.

Noel is accused of charging the majority of the credit card purchases, at least $2.1 million. Noel has pleaded not guilty to 31 felonies. Indiana State Police have supplied voluminous screenshots and bank records of the evidence they plan to use at trial. Noel's attorney Larry Wilder did not respond to a request for comment for this story.

Owen says the money Noel allegedly took from the organization has majorly hampered them. They are also victim to the nationwide paramedic shortage.

After this interview, we found Owen received $3,152 in campaign donations from Noel between 2015 and 2023. Noel was also Owen's campaign chairman for Jeffersonville City Council in 2015.
