Brights Zoo, located in Limestone, is making international news these days. A female reticulated giraffe was born at the Zoo on July 31st, but unlike her mother, she was born without any spots.
She may be the only spotless giraffe in existence.
The Zoo has garnered national attention and news stories over the past few weeks and they are hoping the awareness pays off in renewed interest for wildlife and continued worldwide conservation efforts.
Brights Zoo has shortlisted four names for the newborn, with the public choosing the moniker via online vote: Kipekee (unique), Firali (unusual or extraordinary), Shakiri (she is most beautiful), and Jamella (one of great beauty).
The vote will run until Labor Day, Sept. 4 on the zoo's Facebook page.
