Warning to US Warships Not to Enter the Middle East, Iran: They Will Fail

Описание: MetroTV, Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, warned the United States against attacking his country, stressing that any such move would fail, in Tehran on Monday.

“The US Navy ships brought into the region and positioned close to us are meant to intimidate us,” Mohseni-Ejei said during a meeting with Iranian officials. “Even if they try, they will fail. They have attacked before - during the 12-day war - and they failed.”

His remarks came amid ongoing protests in Iran, which Tehran says the United States and Israel are attempting to fuel.

US President Donald Trump said last week that a huge US fleet was heading towards Iran.

In response, the commander of the Iranian Army’s ground forces, Major General Ali Jahanshahi, said on Saturday that his forces would 'defend Iran to the death'.

Since late last year, Iran has witnessed protests that began in Tehran and later spread to other cities, driven by worsening economic conditions and the sharp depreciation of the Iranian rial against the US dollar.

Recently, several cities have seen unrest and acts of vandalism targeting public property. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has accused 'enemy forces' of training groups inside and outside the country and bringing militants in from abroad.

According to local media outlets, 3,117 people were killed during the unrest.

According to authorities, 2,427 of the victims were security personnel or civilians, while the remainder were described as perpetrators of violence or armed groups allegedly trained by foreign parties.
