In whch yr hmbl svt tears down my old, failed Kindle Oasis 2. Featuring a review of the Kaiweets KTI-W02 thermal imager (which they sent me, although they did not send me any money).
The Kindle is a miracle of tiny design, which excruciatingly small components and high-tech materials all layered together in such a way as to make it completely impossible to repair when, e.g., the USB socket fails. I was particularly impressed with the way the screws to disassemble it have the extremely fragile eink screen glued on top of them.
The thermal imager's good, I guess? It's my first experience with one so I don't have anything to compare against. That said, there are some annoying bugs, and I did have to hack in support for it into the Linux kernel myself. It does seem to be slightly cheaper than the corresponding FLIR model.
