Описание: Fourier just officially launched its third-generation humanoid robot designed to connect with people emotionally.

The perceived leader in China's humanoid robotics scene took a dramatically different approach engineering the GR-3 compared to its previous fake humans, the GR-1 and GR-2. Standing 165 cm (5'5"), the GR-3 features soft, warm-touch materials, cushioned rounded surfaces, and a friendly face with expressive eyes so it feels more like a companion than a machine.

The Shanghai-based company says its so-called care bot reacts quickly but can also hold emotional, humanlike conversations. The bipedal robot responds to voice, touch, and facial expressions. It analyzes tone and responds accordingly. It moves smoothly with up to 55 degrees of freedom (DoF)and dexterous hands.

According to Fourier, the GR-3 bot runs 24/7 thanks to its hot swappable batteries and smart power use. The robot is intended for real-world care environments like hospitals, eldercare centers, and schools.

Fourier says developers can customize the AI robot's brain using open APIs. Fourier hasn't publicly disclosed pricing, but its previous GR robots sell for more than $100,000.

Available footage of the robot hints that there's a desktop or half-humanoid variant with a possible upgrade path to bipedal. It would align with Fourier's emphasis on modular design.

Selling the GR-3’s robotic bust for consumer-friendly prices as desktop companions could ease their robots into homes and workplaces. Fourier’s new video also shows what looks like even smaller variants of the robots, perhaps as China’s answer to hugging faces highly anticipated desktop AI companion.
