A massive Hi-Tech Global Film City is set to be developed in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, spread across nearly 500 acres. This project is not just about building shooting floors; it is being designed as a complete filmmaking ecosystem — from scriptwriting to post-production and theatrical release — all in one place. The proposed Film City will include advanced infrastructure such as high-end graphics and VFX centers comparable to Hollywood standards, along with dubbing studios, editing units, and other post-production facilities. This will reduce the need for filmmakers to travel abroad for technical work and help complete large-scale films at lower costs within India itself. In addition to studio facilities, the natural beauty around Amaravati will be a major advantage. Locations such as the banks of the Krishna River, Kondapalli Fort, and the hills of Mangalagiri offer scenic backdrops for film shoots. The proximity to Vijayawada International Airport (Gannavaram Airport) will also make travel convenient for actors and technicians. The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to provide quick clearances for film shoots and is offering incentives, land allocations, and other benefits to attract major production houses and investors. Beyond filmmaking, the project is expected to boost tourism through theme parks and hotels within the Film City. Plans are also underway to establish a film university to train students in cinema-related courses, opening up opportunities for local youth. Thousands of jobs are expected to be created. In the coming years, Telugu cinema may proudly be associated not only with Hyderabad but also with Amaravati as a new and powerful filmmaking hub.
