This is Episode 2 of my North Sikkim Travel Series.

In this episode, I leave Gangtok early in the morning and begin the beautiful mountain journey towards Lachen, a small Himalayan village in North Sikkim.

The road from Gangtok to Lachen is filled with breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, army camps, and the stunning Teesta River valley. On the way we pass through Dzongu Valley and Chungthang an important junction where the roads divide towards Lachen and Lachung.

By evening we finally reach Lachen, where the temperature drops dramatically and the cold becomes extremely intense. This peaceful Himalayan village is the base for visiting the famous Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world.
