Ontario announced in August it plans to close 10 supervised consumption sites — designated places where people can use drugs under the safety and support of trained personnel — for being within 200 metres of schools or daycares. The plan has set off fierce debate between those who see the sites as life-saving spaces and others who say the sites have made their neighbourhoods unsafe. CBC’s Shannon Martin went inside Kensington Market Overdose Prevention Services to hear from the people who use it and work there, and also spoke with people who live and work nearby.
