Nissan 350Z 75mm Throttle Body DIY

The V6 in the 350Z is a pretty amazing engine and most of the performance enhancements have already been ironed out. However, one modification that is popular with most any engine that is usually over looked on the 350Z is a bigger throttle body. The reason for this is people who dyno test these don't show much or any improvement. The reason for this is they aren't a restriction on a stock engine. Once you start to increase power and raise the redline, they quickly become a bottle neck. Even without a dyno plot, look at the HR motor, the two 60mm throttle bodies flow a ton more air than the single 70mm throttle body on the VQ35DE.

Another problem is the only option is very expensive; a full NWP kit can be almost $400. I can get it done for less than half that! The key is knowing which throttle body to buy: a Hitachi 75mm model from a Nissan Maxima is the same throttle body used in the kit. Now, all you need to do is adapt that to the plenum and wiring. The wiring is easy, you can buy a pre-made adapter or make your own (its only 6 wires) [Link below]. The adapter plate is easy as well; a 1/4 inch thick piece of aluminum with some countersunk screws and tapped holes easily adapts the different bolt patterns.

I have been running a 75mm throttle body on my car since 2015 without a single issue. It has seen thousands of miles and over a dozen track days. The throttle body works even better now that it is attached to my carbon fiber plenum with its larger neck before I had to grind the plenum neck to smooth the transition). If your car is already heavily modified, this is a great next step to find more power, especially in the higher rpms.
