Описание: 코로나가 한창이던 2021년 12월 말 MMCA 유튜브 채널에서 최초 공개되었던 정유미 감독의 애니메이션 ‹파도›를 기억하시나요? 각자의 이야기를 지닌 인물들이 바닷가를 찾아오고 사라지지만 그들의 삶과 사연을 간직한 파도만이 남아 잔잔한 위로를 건낸 작품이었습니다. 그 이후 ‹파도›는 2023년 스위스 ‘로카르노영화제’ 단편경쟁부문에 공식 초청되었고, ‘부천국제애니메이션영화제’ 한국 단편 심사위원상을 수상하였으며, 2024년 이탈리아 ‘산지오 베로나 비디오 페스티벌’에서 최우수 애니메이션상을 받았고, 같은 해 러시아의 ‘빅 카툰 페스티벌’에 출품되었습니다.

Do you remember “The Waves (파도),” an animated short film by director Jung Yumi that premiered on the MMCA YouTube channel in late December 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic? The film gently portrays individuals, each with their own story, who come to the seaside and eventually fade away—leaving only the waves behind, quietly holding onto their lives and memories, offering a serene sense of comfort.
Since its debut, The Waves has continued to gain international recognition. It was officially invited to the Short Films Competition at the 2023 ‘Locarno Film Festival’ in Switzerland, received the Jury Award for Korean Shorts at the ‘Bucheon International Animation Festival,’ won Best Animation at the 2024 ‘San Gio Verona Video Festival’ in Italy, and was also featured at Russia’s ‘Big Cartoon Festival’ the same year.

We’re also pleased to share exciting news: director Jung Yumi’s latest work “the Glasses (안경) ”has been officially selected for the Critics’ Week Short Film Competition at the 78th Cannes Film Festival—the first Korean animation ever to be invited in this category.
