“Ceiling Song” became the first song where I was able to build a rapport with a singer in a performance , I had always loved that type of call and response between vocals and lead guitar in bands like Zeppelin, Aerosmith , Stones. Here, I finally got my chance.

A trained ear will hear that there’s a phaser effect on the guitar. I normally only used it during the guitar solo, but in the urgency of being “on the clock” in the studio I inadvertently left it on for the whole take. Naturally I nailed this take and didn’t want to re-do it , so I left it in.
