Simple recipe for Stir Fried Mongolian Beef
Ingredients:
Beef Marinade:
8oz of Sliced Beef (I used strip steak)
1/2 teaspoon Shaoxing Wine
1/2 teaspoon Soy Sauce
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Cornstarch
Mix all of these ingredients and let sit 15 to 30 minutes
Veggies
1/2 small onion
1 Large bunch green onions cut into pieces 3/4 to 1 inch in length (separate the white parts from the green parts).
1 clove roughly chopped garlic
Equal volume of roughly chopped ginger
For Sauce:
1/4 cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
1 Tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon raw sugar
Mix the all sauce ingredients and set aside.
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
2 Tablespoons peanut oil
Thickening Slurry
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
1 Tablespoon Water
Mix water and cornstarch.
Add oil to a hot wok and cook onion and white part of the onion until it just starts to soften. Then add the green part of the onion, when lightly cooked remove from the wok.
Add a little more oil to the pan and add the beef. Cook until meat is 75 to 80% done and remove from wok.
Add the sauce to the wok. When sauce starts to boil return the beef and the green onions to wok. Add the sesame oil and the slurry and mix until sauce is thick. Turn off heat and remove from pan.
